Easy Ribbed Fingerless Gloves Pattern (Average Women’s Size)
Skill Level: Easy
Materials (for Women’s Average Size):
- US Size 6mm and 6.5mm hooks
- 1 skein Lion Brand Yarn Heartland, #4 weight, 5oz/251 yds (any color you like…Black Canyon is shown here)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers
Gauge (Women’s Average Size): 12 sts x 15 rows = 4″x4″ using a 6mm hook
Pattern Notes:
- Written in U.S. English crochet terms
- Once you begin the hand section, don’t turn your work. You’ll work in continuous rounds until the end
- Make two of the pattern to create a full set of gloves
- You’ll use two hook sizes… the smaller one for the wrist ribbing, then switch to the larger one for the hand
Abbreviations (U.S. Terms):
- beg – beginning
- ch – chain
- hdc – half double crochet
- rnd(s) – round(s)
- sc – single crochet
- sl st – slip stitch
- st(s) – stitch(es)
Pattern Instructions
Wrist Ribbing – Using 6mm hook
- Ch 12
- Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across, turn (10 sts)
- Row 2: Ch 2, hdc blo in each st, turn
- Repeat Row 2 until ribbing measures approximately 6 1/2″ (about 16 rows)
- Sl st ends together to close the ribbing
- Weave in ends, flip so right side faces out
Hand Shaping – Using 6.5mm hook
- Attach yarn with sl st to any st on the edge of the wristband.
- Rnd 1: Ch 1, hdc 16 sts evenly around, sl st to beg st (16 sts)
- Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc evenly around, sl st to beg st (16 sts)
- Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, hdc, 2 hdc in next st, hdc to end, sl st to beg st (18 sts)
- Rnd 4: Ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, hdc 3, 2 hdc in next st, hdc to end, sl st to beg st (20 sts)
- Rnd 5: Ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, hdc 5, 2 hdc in next st, hdc to end, sl st to beg st (22 sts)
- Rnd 6: Ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, hdc 7, 2 hdc in next st, hdc to end, sl st to beg st (24 sts)
- Rnds 7-9: Ch 1, hdc around, sl st to beg st (24 sts)
- Rnd 10: Ch 1, skip 9 sts, hdc in next 15 sts, sl st to beg st (15 sts)
- Rnds 11-14: Ch 1, hdc around, sl st to beg st (15 sts)
- Fasten off with invisible join, weave in ends
