This first blog post is a little “hello,” a peek behind the curtain and a story about how my whole journey began.
How It All Started: A Left-Handed Leap Into Crochet
Like a lot of folks, I picked up a new hobby during the pandemic—except it wasn’t exactly new. I’d always wanted to learn how to crochet, especially after years of watching my grandmother’s hands dance over yarn when I was a kid. But being a lefty meant most tutorials just didn’t click. One day, determined and a little stir-crazy, I sat down with YouTube, a skein of yarn, and a “let’s just try this” attitude. I fumbled. I rewound. I frogged (a lot). But eventually, the stitches stuck—and I fell in love.
Why “Beets & Stitches”?
The name is a sweet little nod to my husband, who jokingly called me his “Beet” (like the veggie!) when I’d get all flushed while concentrating. The “stitches” part? Well, that’s where the yarn, love, and creativity come in. Beets & Stitches is more than a shop—it’s a space where every handmade item tells a story. From boho-inspired coasters to bookish bookmarks and cozy cottage core decor, everything I make is meant to bring a little joy, a little warmth, and a lot of heart into your home.
